There are many things that has surprised me with my brother Roger... and then there are things that don't at all... he was never known as a handy man around the house when he lived here... his idea was call dad and he can do it.. but he did move away and he didn't have dad close by to call on... so he actually had to learn some things... this photo is of him watching Carl getting the lawn mower going after a winter in the shed... not saying that after watching Carl he would be able to do it as well but he is trying... he he ...

Spring time and it always means at least one trip to the local dump area to get rid of things that we have been holding on too for way too long... and as we were coming up to the area where we had the pleasure of throwing the stuff out of the trailer and enjoying the smell of everything that was there... we spotted an eagle... now we are not sure if it is a golden or a bald eagle but it is a baby one sitting on the top of the pole... this photos was taken really far away from it... and if it was not for the jerk behind us that didn't know that he could actually turn his wheel to pass us I would have tried to get a better picture but he wouldn't go around us and we moved on when I got back to it the eagle was gone and no where in sight...

The last blossom I took was from a crab apple tree ... this one is from a flowering crab ( I got a call last night to tell me that I had a spelling mistake on my blog yesterday... crap tree instead of crab so I thought I would come in and fix it thanks Robin)  tree... it blossoms but no fruit... there was not all that many blossoms when I took it but will be back to take more since it is in mom's front yard.... 

This is the time of the year that I take tons and tons of photos of flowers and bird because they are both very abundant around my house but it would be very boring for those that are taking the time to look at my site... so I am trying to find other things besides that to photograph.... so keep watching ... you never know what I am going to find in the days to come.... 

Oh I almost forgot.. Robin you are right once again... it is the old post office... and I don't have a full photo of it... will have to do that this week he he...

Friday morning when Carl went up for coffee this was sitting in the grave yard... and as you can see it actually looks like a coffin... and that is what he thought it was from a distance... and when he drove down several hours later it was still sitting out on the ground and he couldn't figure out why it had not been buried yet... which I thought the same thing... when he went down  that evening before sunset it was still there and you couldn't believe what he was saying... 

But this morning when we went down that was it... he wanted a picture of this coffin that was left out in the open all day yesterday... and wanted answers to why it was left out all night long.. it was just not right... they were showing no respect for the dead.... so we drove up to take a photo we discovered that it was a coffin in a way but it was a model for when they dug graves to make sure that the coffin fit the hole that they dug.... we were both relieved over that... but it really does look like a coffin from a distance...

You know all those fiddle heads that you guys eat every year and I call grass well this is what the ones you miss picking looks like afterwards.. .ok they are not grass they are ferns... and they are still gross to eat in my mind any way... he he.....

My forsythia had a wonderful spring of blossoms not saying that they will next year... I am waiting for the blossoms to go so I can cut it back...it has gotten out of hand and it becoming a very ugly looking tree.... so it is in need of a much needed cut back...

Another where is this ..... many people will still call it what it was built for many years ago... but it has been used for many other things since then... I will only say you pass it every time you are in town... so what is this place?

And the answer was right Robin since he is the only one that answered... good old Bathurst High School... still stands and has grown even more then what is shown in this photo...

Ok so I had yet another blonde moment this morning and forgot to post yesterday's photos as well... it is another one of those do you know where these photos come from... so I guess it for those who are actually from the hometown...

The two corner stones with the dates on them are from a building that been added on several times since the beginning... we have all gone into this building many times in our younger years and some of us that are parents returned to it because your children was there as well....

And the elders of our times would have told us many time because most of us didn't want to be there....enjoy because these are the best years of our lives.... ohhhh where did these corner stones come from....

Every time I do my blog I go checking on line to the last day I did it... and this morning I thought oh my I really messed up when I checked the date on the computer and it said the 26th...

I carry my camera every where I go and don't really keep track of the photos that are in it until I sit in front of the computer but seeing the 26th I was sure I messed up once again... then coming out of the blonde moment I was having, I realized that it was not Tuesday it was Saturday... ok well that works better LOL....

I have been waiting for these to show up for a week now... each time I pass by to go to my parents I check to see if there are any crab apple blossoms out yet... though I am not a lover of pink I do love these blossoms the best...

This is baby girl... not mine but my brother's actually but that is what I call her... and she was down on Wednesday to visit kind of, in a way... while I did some cleaning and putting up out doors....she sat in the hot house where it was so much warmer then outdoors and read most of the day... she didn't want to stay home alone that afternoon so she came and spent it with us....

My bleeding hearts are coming along very nicely thank you very much.... I think I have about 8 pink and white plants around the house and yard... they are way too easy to take any credit for them coming up each year...

Yesterday was a day for driving around and seeing what we could see... that was about it... we did some looking into a few new places for flowers for the gardens and in hunt for cedar poles... which took us up to Robertville... and this photo of the day...

Not sure what kind of car it is but a little ticked Carl was when he seen a tree growing out of the middle of it... it actually had a license plate on it which I hide for the person's privacy... there was two others with this car... but this is the one I picked for today's photo...

I was over to Carl's parents place and noticed that their tulips were almost done... but at mom's who is just across town were just starting... so of course I had to lay down on the lawn to get a few photos of mom's flowers...

On my way home from picking up a few things today I was wondering what I was going to take a photo of... and then the thought of the rain... and since I was driving I thought why not... so I grabbed my camera and slowed right down making sure there was no one behind me and snapped a few photos... this is between the wipes... on my way home...

As you can see Mr. Nutty has to work for his nuts...

This morning we started our day very early outdoors ... but even before I got started Carl was out filling bird feeders with seeds and the peanut holders as well... well we were working on some of the flowers that we transplanted when Mr. Nutty as I call him came along having a grand old time with the peanuts... actually there was one he emptied on to the ground and I went and picked them up informing him that he was being greedy and put them all back in... then I told Carl not to let him back until I got my camera... only to find Carl having a great laugh over what was going on....

Mr. Nutty would climb the tree, across the little branch and upside down to get a peanut... then he would take off to hide it somewhere close by... but then Mr. Blue Jay shows up and as Mr. Nutty returns to the tree to get another one... Mr. Blue Jay is picking up the peanut that was just hidden... this went on for about 20 minutes... until there was no peanuts left in the feeder...

I know it doesn't take all that much to amaze us rednecks... but then it was better then most movies... no sex, no violence, and no bad laugh well that we could understand any way LOL....

It has been a great few days for the land... and we have been working it in every way we can...

Monday I spent most of the day trying to find all the hostas that we have along the pathway by raking all the leaves from the area...I found most of them but there is some that is still under water after the rain storm last week... hope they will show up soon.... then I thought it was time to move the bird feeders to their summer home... the reason for this is the black birds would take over the feeders when they were left in front of the kitchen window... so now they are all at the beginning of the pathway....with suet hanging from the branches and little peanut dishes as well for Mr. Nutty and the blue Jays...

This morning before heading out to town I took a few minutes to watch Mr. Nutty attacking one of the feeders and got a few photos of him... as you can see he was not happy that I showed up while he was having breakfast but when I came back 3 hours later he was still at the feeder eating away..it didn't take him long to find the new location...

My farmer... We gave up our veggie garden a few years go because it was right in front of the flower bed... but this year Carl decided to make another one... the tiller is from Mr. Hills.. it is old but works very well and as you can see from the sweat my farmer is hard at work as well....

Some of our flowers are starting to show up which is always nice and I am sure you will be seeing everyone of them some where along the way this summer as they show their beauty...

I hope your day is filled with sunshine and warmth... it is calling for a 20C today here which is always nice to see.... Joanne

May 7, 2009 Well he is not an animal but it was actually the only photo I took that day.... it is not often I caught him on camera ... seems he is like is mom... not liking his photo taken... so it is always a snick and snap...

The fishermen are closer to shore and as I went for a little spin down shore I got a chance to get a couple of really nice photos of the boats... knowing that the next day I would be picking up some of their catch for dinner for Mother's Day....

Saturday morning a call came in from baby girl ... "Auntie I need a really big favor..." her mother was down on the beach by Stonehaven Wharf and found an injured bird... would I take her down with container so they could take it to a man that gets birds and other animals back into the wild... and of course Auntie can't say no to baby girl even though I thought of staying in pjs for a very long time that day... A Northern Gannet... the sad news is that it didn't make it because of other injuries....

This morning around 2:30 am I went out to say good night or very early morning to baby girl, hubby and friend after they spent the night watching movies... and as I was coming into the house like normal I went looking for moths around the door, since I hate the little suckers... but to my surprise this little fellow was hanging on my door frame...

Well that is it for now... the sun is out and it is calling me to get some gardening done finally... since the weekend was filled with tears from heaven so nothing was done once again.... Have great one all... Joanne

On our way home from my sister's last night we had the chance to see some moose that were behind the fence that has been put up in the last few years... the only thing the truck ahead of us scared them off into the woods... I got lucky as they stood waiting for us to leave to get this photo of one of them....

I was waiting for the kids and being bored out of my trees I put my seat down opened the sun roof and snapped away at the clouds... I love clouds and use to take tons of photos of them... the good thing about them is you never get two of the same....

Carl was out getting the lawn mowers fixed up for another season... and Kodak got off his lease as I was walking out the door... it almost looks like he is saying.."Hey what you doing with that thing? It is usually on the ground making lots of noise..."

We have a small grocery store close to here and the owners live right across the street from it.... one big hang up I have with them is that when I go for a case of coke they never have any .... so when I walked in that day there were coke cases all over the place... but had a great laugh when I was driving out of the yard and spotted all of these in his garage.... I am sure he was thinking... not going to have Jo complaining for a while about the lack of....

I have said this before but I have to say it again... the man needs to get back to work because the things he is coming up with is unreal... this spring out well pump we thought was done... so we went out and got another one... but Carl didn't get rid of the old one... and this is what this photo is about .. not Mr. Nutty but the hose below it... Carl got the pump going again... put it in the other well that is on our land... hooked up a hose to it and a remote control to it so when I want to go out watering this summer I don't need to haul everything with me... I just click a button and off I go... a note to this as well... I also started using the lawn tractor around the yard this year... since my leg is still on the bummed up list....

The first day of lobster season in this area and of course we got lobsters... Kailen had lobsters before but never had to cracked them... not in my house, you want lobsters you crack them and clean them.... she took the tail off and the row (if that is spelled right) came out and she looked at it as you can see... as she asked if she had to eat it... actually she did a great job with the lobster for a first timers...

This is a two part today.... these are our two dogs... Kodak and Maggie... and they were sitting like this for a very long time on Saturday just staring and watching down the lawn.... but wouldn't bark because the last time they did bark for nothing they got sprayed on by the hole...

Mr. Nutty was sitting on the flower bed just driving them crazy... I turned around and someone came in the yard which distracted the dogs and when they got back to watching Mr. Nutty.. he was gone from the flower bed but it was on top of the feeder which drove them crazy even more...

Carl and Matthew were busy yesterday while the sun was shining... they took all the plastic off my greenhouse and replaced it with more since the snow blower popped holes in it this winter... and that was not Carl and the snow blower but the one that came in before he got home from working out west....
